Western Flower Thrips


  The invasive western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis Pergrande, was first recorded in Kenya in 1989. From then on this species has inflicted substantial losses to the horticultural sector in Kenya.

Natural enemies of thrips


Eulophid parasitoids, Ceranisus menes associated with Frankliniella sp., Ceranisus femoratus associated with Megalurothrips sp., anthocorid bugs like Orius thripoborus, Orius jeanelli, Orius tantillus and Orius albidipennis are commonly observed natural enemies of thrips. They are quite abundant in wild than cultivated habitats.
